Baby Prez: 12 Weeks

Dear Baby Prez,

This week our family started moving into a new house.  It was a long week, but we love the new place.  Unlike the other house, this house is all on one level, so there's lots of room for you too run and play as you grow.

Weight:    12 pounds, 4 ounces is your official weight this week!  You're such a big boy!

Health:  The nurse at the pediatrician's office said that you your growth is on track for a baby your age.

Sleep:  Your sleep patterns have remained remarkably consistent with sleeping in four hour intervals at night.

Diet:  Your repertoire is growing.  This week Mommy and Daddy went to the farmer's market and got you an acorn squash.  We made Harvey baby food from it by cooking it and blending it with breastmilk.  You're still primarily drinking breastmilk -- usually about 6 ounces every 3 hours.

You have now tried: rice cereal, sweet potato, and acorn squash.  What will next week bring?

After

Likes:   Eating "real" food, chewing on your hands, smiling, interacting with people

Dislikes:  Waiting to be fed and waiting for the next bite of food

Milestones:  Some of your milestones this week were also family milestones.  A new house!  A new room!  Mommy and Daddy have to find a weekend this fall to paint your new room, but the room itself is just the right size for a little boy.

First time eating acorn squash.  This week Mommy and Daddy went to the farmers' market after church to find a new food for you to try.  The winner was acorn squash, which we made into baby food for you.  We were not at all surprised that you loved it.  You seem to love eating anything we give you!  Hopefully it will be the same way when we are trying to convince you to try and eat your veggies when you get older!

Worst Moments:  Moving, which, of course, has nothing to do with you!

Best Moments:  You're becoming more entertaining every single day.  Mommy loves just hanging out with you!

Love,

Mommy

Baby Prez: 11 Weeks

Dear Baby Prez,

Weight:   About 11 pounds.

Health:  You are still a healthy baby!

Sleep:  You sleep about 4-5 hours at each interval through the night, so someone has to get up about once each night to feed you, but you usually settle back down quickly after the bottle.

Social:  Mimi came over to help pack and look after you while Mommy and Daddy got ready to move, so you got some quality grandma time this week!

Diet:  Breastmilk, rice cereal, AND sweet potatoes.  You are now drinking 5.5 to 6 ounces at each feeding, plus rice cereal for brunch.  On Sunday, you got to try a new food -- sweet potatoes.  We cooked a sweet potato, blended it up, and mixed it with b-milk.  You loved it!

Likes:   Food!  You absolutely love eating and can't wait for the next bite!

Milestones:  You continue to expand your diet, and the plan is to introduce a new food each Sunday.  It is fun for Mommy and Daddy to watch as you try new things.

Worst Moments:  This week Mommy and Daddy were packing to move, so the worst moments had nothing to do with you, and everything to do with packing for the move.

Best Moments:  With all of the stress associated with packing and moving, you were without a doubt, a bright spot in the week.  We love hanging out with you and having "conversations" with you.

Love,

Mommy

Baby Prez: 10 Weeks

Dear Baby Prez,

Big milestones this week!

Weight:  I don't know for sure, but we are going into the doctor's office for a weight check this coming week, so we'll know for next week's entry.  My guess is that you are nearly 11 pounds.

Health:  You are still a healthy baby, and you are growing like a weed!

Sleep:  You've been sleeping four hours at each interval at night, which means Mommy and Daddy are only woken up once!

Social:  This week, you met lots of Daddy's friends when we visited for one of his high school friends' wedding.  You were friendly to everyone, and even danced with Susy to some Brazilian music at the pool party!

Diet:  Breastmilk and rice cereal.  You are currently drinking 5 ounces at each feeding, plus cereal for breakfast and in your nighttime bottle.  You think the cereal is delicious and can't wait for the next spoonful!

Likes:   Talking and interacting with people.  It's amazing to see your face just light up when you focus on Mommy or Daddy and realize who it is.  You smile so big and start talking baby jibberish like a pro.

Dislikes:  None!

Milestones:  You had some big milestones this week from eating cereal to the first time to swimming for the first time.  You did great with all of the new things you experienced this last week.

Cereal.  You ate real food for the very first time this week!  You've been such a hungry little monster, and you'd shown us many of the signs that you're ready to try solids like chewing on your hands (constantly), great neck control, and sitting with assistance.  We tried it and it was a success!  We made some rice cereal for you with breastmilk, so it was quite liquid and not very solid, but it's still food!  You absolutely loved it and got the hang of eating off of a spoon quickly.

Swimming / Pool Party.  On Sunday, you went to your very first pool party!  It was an impromptu party, so Mommy and Daddy ran out to Target to get you swimming gear, which consisted of a swim diaper (which is adorable even though it was under your suit) and a swimsuit that resembles a wetsuit.  Add your floppy hat and some sunscreen, and you were all ready to go!  For the most part you enjoyed the water.  Mommy and Daddy were super excited when you started kicking like a real swimmer when we pulled you around the pool!  We even recorded it on video.  You were just the cutest swimmer ever!

Best Moments:  All of your milestones!  It's amazing to see you grow and develop each week.  Mommy and Daddy can't believe that you've changed so much already since you were born.

Love,

Mommy

Baby Prez: 9 Weeks

Dear Baby Prez,

You are as cute as ever this week!  Your daddy and I have decided that you are really starting to look like a person.  :)

Weight:    Not sure, but I'd guess over 10 pounds.

Health:  You are healthy and happy.  You are now drinking 5 ounces at each feeding.  Wowsers!  This puts you at the very top of the range for number of ounces that infants your age usually drink.

Sleep:  When we do your last feeding around midnight, you only wake up once during then night.  (Most nights.)

Social:   After socializing so much last week, we took a break this week.  You are making friends with the clerk at the corner store though when Mommy and Daddy walk down for sodas.  And you got to take a mini trip to say goodbye to your cousin who had to go back to Florida after a summer with Mimi and Grandad!

Diet:  Breastmilk only.

Likes:   Attention.  You definitely enjoy when we pay attention to you, and you are so responsive!  It is so much fun that you can focus on us now.

Sitting up like a big boy.  You have also started to want to sit up more.  We prop you up in the couch cushions, and you sit there and observe everything that is going on around you!

Tummy time
Milestones:  You get better and better at holding up your head during tummy time!

Love my cloth diapers!

Best Moments:   Mommy and Daddy love that you are interacting with us more!  You are the best entertainment around!

Just like Daddy

Love,

Mommy

Baby Prez: 8 Weeks

Dear Baby Prez,

You are becoming cuter everyday, and you have everyone you meet wrapped around your finger!

Weight:  ~10 pounds, but it's just a guess.

Health:  You are still a healthy baby!

Sleep:  You're a great sleeper, and we are continually finding out how great of a baby you are when we hear friends' stories of babies only sleeping a couple hours at a time.

Social:  What a big week for you socially!  You met your great grandma, great aunt & uncle, and cousins when they drove through town on the way to see extended family.  What a special visit!  And you met other babies for the first time this week!  We had friends over for dinner and you met Charlotte, who was intrigued by another baby.  And the next day, one of Daddy's best friends from high school stopped by with his wife and daughter, Miranda.  Both little girls were so pretty.  I asked you if one of them is your girlfriend now, but you aren't telling.

Diet:  Breastmilk only.  You are drinking 4.5 - 5 ounces per feeding.

Likes:   Being held and interacting with us.  Now that you can finally see and recognize Mommy and Daddy, you want to interact with us more.  You usually only get fussy when you are hungry, but this week you've begun getting fussy just because you want held or want us to pay attention to you.

Lights.  Like all babies, you are fascinated by lights and will stare at them endlessly.  It amazes Mommy that you blink so infrequently.  You would definitely win any staring contest right now!

Attention!  Like last week, you are stilling wanting to just be held and interacted with and getting fussy when you are left alone for too long.

Dislikes:  You are such a happy baby that there are almost no dislikes to even mention!  You don't love tummy time.  I would say that you tolerate tummy time, but once you'd have enough, you make it known!

Milestones:  First walk in your stroller without the carseat.  Mommy and Daddy walked down to the corner store for sodas, and you came along in your stroller.  You loved being outside and looking at the sky. The clerk at the store thought you were adorable and loved your name.

Made new baby friends - Charlotte and Miranda

Met your Great Grandma Jo

Met your great aunt & uncle & cousins

Worst Moments:  Poop explosions.  You are one forceful kid.

Best Moments:  You are smiling and interacting with us more and more, which is amazing.  Mommy also loved seeing you meet Grandma Jo.  It was so special.  You were so good, and she was so excited!

Love,

Mommy
